Aintree Iron Energy Concentrate Supplement

Aintree Iron Energy Concentrate Supplement

Complementary feed supplement, suitable for all horses, ponies and camels irrespective of age, breed or workload, particularly those with anaemia, in regular hard work, or to help normal recovery from illness.

Bioavailable iron counteracts a deficiency and aids the production of red blood cells.

b6, b12 and folic acid counteract a deficiency and ensure normal red blood cell formation and survival.

Bioavailable copper helps the formation of collagen and elastin to maintain blood vessel and capillary wall strength.

Blood building nutrients

Blood composition is a good indicator of health in the horse and camel due to its role as a transportation system, carrying nourishment, vital substances, gases and waste material. Red blood cells must be produced continuously in the bone marrow and are crucial to the transport of oxygen to all tissues of the body.

In certain situations, red blood cell production may become disrupted, which may result in fatigue, lethargy and loss of performance, or appetite. During times of stress, such as hard work or training, old age, growth and illness, nutritional support may be required to maintain normal red blood cell synthesis.

Iron is required for the formation of haemoglobin in blood and myoglobin in muscle. The levels of iron in a typical diet are generally sufficient, however, availability can become reduced in some diets.

A deficiency of vitamin B12 specifically reduces the rate of blood cell production and this vitamin is also needed to maintain adequate supplies of the active form of folic acid. Folic acid is necessary for red blood cell formation and maturation and a deficiency can contribute towards anaemia. Vitamin B6 is involved in the formation of haemoglobin and again deficiency is associated with anaemia.

Chelated copper promotes the effective absorption of iron and is involved in the formation of collagen and elastin, both important components of blood vessel walls. Grapeseed extract is also included, which is a potent antioxidant thought to rival vitamin C and E in potency and guards against free radical attack.

Note: For horses or camels in hard competitive work, feeding Science Formula Electrolyte Supplement and Aintree E (1000/2000) is recommended, in order to achieve optimum performance and help avoid reduced stamina, premature fatigue and poor recovery from exercise. If in doubt about the health or condition of your horse or camel, you should seek veterinary advice.
